Andy Bausch's "Troublemaker" trilogy

Three legendary cult films that made the Luxembourg film scene flourish and grow

In a way, Andy Bausch is a legend: the film director and screenwriter (born 1959) was the first director from Luxembourg to venture into the international film business - and succeed! ‘Troublemaker’ even became a cult film: the feature film starring Thierry van Werveke (1958-2009) was the big breakthrough for both the actor and the director. ‘Troublemaker’ was also a huge commercial success - by Luxembourg standards: Around 17,000 people saw it in the cinema after its release, which doesn't sound like much. Nevertheless, the film made a decisive contribution to the ‘birth’ of the professional film industry in Luxembourg. In 1997, Bausch directed ‘Back in Trouble’, a first sequel to ‘Troublemaker’, with the same leading actors. For the third instalment, ‘Trouble No More’, he had to do without the leading actor Thierry Van Werveke, who had died shortly before filming began.
