An important event is about to take place: the Panama Canal is to be inaugurated. Emily and Alexander have traveled all the way to Panama to be with their cousin Pedro. However, the completion of the canal is delayed because the workers are afraid of a sea monster and simply run away when eerie noises are heard at night. In addition, a mysterious thief is on the loose. Emily and Alexander want to get to the bottom of the matter and lie in wait all night to catch the thief in the act. The plan works.
