Shot by travelling filmmakers in the early 20th century, probably at the request of the company's owner, this film shows the daily life in the Mercier factory in Luxembourg, which transformed barrels of wine imported from Epernay into sparkling wine and bottled them. The French company Mercier had set up a factory in Luxembourg to take advantage of favourable customs duties on the transport of barrels.
The footage shows the owners and employees, including the work of men, women and children in the various tasks required for bottling, making transport baskets or loading into special wagons.
